About Esme

Esme is a diagnostic practice for B2B brands asking one question: would AI recommend us? Most diagnostics tell you what is broken. Esme finds where it came from. That is what makes the repair last.

Why Esme exists

Esme was built for two kinds of brand.

The ones with years of careful work behind them strong products, real clients, good teams that still aren’t being recommended by the AI systems their buyers now use to research, shortlist, and choose.

And the ones that are earlier. That want to build the signals correctly from the start, before the gaps compound.

What they have in common is the same question: would AI recommend us?

The problem is never simply the work. It’s what the work signals.

Every brand produces patterns in how consistently it shows up, how clearly it communicates, how verifiably it proves what it claims, how reliably it follows through. AI recommendation systems read those patterns the same way a buyer does. And when the patterns don’t add up to something trustworthy, the brand is excluded quietly, without appeal, before the sales conversation ever begins.

The practitioners

The Trust Signal Diagnostic™ is conducted by two practitioners working in combination. Each brings a distinct lens. Together they investigate what the brand is signalling and what that signalling is costing, connecting the pattern to the consequence, which is what makes the repair roadmap actionable rather than observational.

The Signal Investigator - Content Strategy & Brand Communication

A B2B content strategist with 15 years of experience building the communication systems inside SaaS platforms, the documentation, the positioning frameworks, the knowledge architecture, and the onboarding systems that determine whether a brand’s signals add up to something buyers trust. Has built these systems for more than a dozen B2B technology companies across US, UK, and global markets. Has seen all four brand patterns being constructed from the inside, which is a different kind of knowledge from observing them from the outside. Specialises in the Consistency and Clarity signals.

The Commercial Analyst - Marketing, Sales & Performance Analytics

A senior marketing leader with deep experience in go-to-market strategy, demand generation, and performance analytics across B2B markets. Reads what broken signals cost, in traffic performance, conversion rates, deal cycles, and revenue outcomes. Connects the trust signal pattern to its commercial consequence. Where the Signal Investigator identifies what the brand is signalling, the Commercial Analyst quantifies what that signalling is producing and what the repair is worth. Specialises in the Credibility and Connection signals, and in the AI Visibility Test that benchmarks each brand’s recommendation position across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI Overview.

The diagnostic session brings both perspectives into the room. The written notebook that follows reflects both lenses, signal and consequence, pattern and repair, observation and roadmap.

The methodology

The Trust Signal Diagnostic™ investigates four behavioural signals across 30 checks drawn from publicly observable evidence. Every finding is based on what is literally, demonstrably, verifiably there, not what the brand intended, but what the evidence shows.

Each broken signal is traced to its origin. The repair roadmap that follows is sequenced specifically for each brand, addressing the most damaging signal first and accounting for how the signals interact. Most brands have more than one broken signal. The interactions between them determine the sequence. Getting the sequence wrong produces repairs that don’t hold.

The methodology in action

Esme is new. We do not yet have a library of client case files. What we have published are three free signal audits of real, named, verifiable B2B brands, each conducted using the same framework that underpins every Trust Signal Diagnostic™.

Case File #A001 - The Walnut Audit
Signal investigated: Consistency
Walnut is a well-funded B2B SaaS platform with clients including Adobe, Dell, and NetApp. Strong LinkedIn presence. Good G2 reviews. AI systems recognise it when asked about interactive demo platforms. But when the Consistency signal was investigated across all four public content channels, the evidence told a different story.

Case File #A002 - The Benesch Audit
Signal investigated: Clarity
Benesch is a well-regarded national law firm with strong practice-area coverage and an active thought-leadership programme. In eight seconds, a first-time visitor or an AI system reading the homepage without prior context cannot determine what kind of law the firm practises or who it serves. That is a Clarity signal problem with specific, observable consequences.

Case File #A003 - The Zilliant Audit
Signal investigated: Credibility
Zilliant is a B2B pricing software company with 25 years of operation and real enterprise clients. The claims on the homepage, industry-leading, highest ROI, the leader in pricing lifecycle management are repeated consistently and cannot be independently verified. One is inconsistent with the most recent Gartner placement. That is what a broken Credibility signal looks like from the outside.

These are not client testimonials. They are proof of methodology, demonstrations of how the investigation works, what the evidence looks like, and what the findings produce.

A note on being new

Esme launched in 2026. We do not yet have a library of client case files or a long list of named testimonials.

What we have is a methodology built on 15 years of observing brand signal patterns from inside B2B technology companies, and on the commercial expertise to connect those patterns to revenue consequences. We have three publicly available signal audits of named brands, conducted transparently, that demonstrate exactly how the investigation works. And we have a diagnostic approach that finds the origin of brand signal problems rather than just naming them which is the part that makes the repair last.

We are telling you this because transparency about being new reads as a trust signal when the work behind it is credible. A practice that diagnoses brand trust signals should not be the brand that obscures what it is and where it is starting from.

The investigation is open. The evidence is already there. We are simply the first practice to have built a methodology around reading it.

Where to start

New to Esme? Start with the Verdant Diagnostic Notebook - free when you subscribe to The Trust Signal. It’s a sample investigation showing exactly what a Trust Signal Diagnostic finds, how the evidence is gathered, and what the signal patterns look like when an investigation is underway.

To see the methodology applied to a real brand before anything else, read the Case Files. All three are free, no subscription required.

To investigate your own brand, The Esme Tale Casebook™ is $19. The bundle with The Trust Signal Mystery™ is $24.

For the full investigation, reach out at hello@thetrustsignal.com. The Trust Signal Diagnostic™ starts from $2,000 and is scoped specifically for your brand.
